Samsung CEO Han Jong-Hee died of a sudden heart attack on Tuesday at 63, leaving Samsung Electronics in mourning.
Mr. Han, a seasoned Samsung executive, has worked for the South Korean tech behemoth for almost 40 years. In his most recent position as co-CEO, he oversaw the digital appliance and consumer electronics divisions, establishing Samsung as a major force in both markets.
A Legacy of Leadership
Han Jong-Hee began his journey with Samsung in 1988 after earning a degree in electrical engineering from Inha University. He significantly aided in the company’s growth throughout the years, particularly in the visual display sector, which cemented Samsung’s dominance in the global flat-screen technology market.
He took charge of Samsung’s consumer electronics division in 2021 and gained additional authority over digital appliances in 2022. His innovative and persistent leadership stood out in a highly competitive field.
