Former soccer player Joey Barton, 41, has been charged in relation to allegations involving malicious social media communications.

Barton faces two charges under malicious communications laws. The accusations relate to posts allegedly targeting BBC presenter Jeremy Vine and ex-England soccer player Lucy Ward.
According to Cheshire Police, Barton, originally from Huyton, Merseyside, and currently residing in Widnes, Cheshire, is set to appear in a magistrates’ court on a date yet to be determined.
