Barton faces two charges under malicious communications laws. The accusations relate to posts allegedly targeting BBC presenter Jeremy Vine and ex-England soccer player Lucy Ward.
According to Cheshire Police, Barton, originally from Huyton, Merseyside, and currently residing in Widnes, Cheshire, is set to appear in a magistrates’ court on a date yet to be determined.
