Vinay Prasad FDA appointment: Controversial pick for vaccine

Vinay Prasad FDA appointment: Named head of FDA’s Center for Biologics, signaling a shift in vaccine oversight.

Vinay Prasad FDA appointment marks the replacement of Dr. Peter Marks, who led the division for 13 years and played a pivotal role in Operation Warp Speed.

Hematologist-oncologist Dr. Prasad is well-known for his scathing critique of FDA leadership during the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccination requirements.

A Strong Critic of COVID-19 Vaccine Policies

Prasad has frequently questioned the government’s vaccination plans. He encouraged the CDC to take COVID-19 off the pediatric vaccination schedule in a recent Substack post.

He claimed the vaccine’s use in children lacks proper randomized trial data and called its inclusion a sign of national “corruption.”

Prasad also criticized his predecessor, calling Dr. Marks “one of the most dangerous, pro-pharma regulators of the 21st century.”

FDA Commissioner Praises Prasad’s Independence

FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary welcomed the appointment. He said Prasad would bring “scientific rigor, independence, and transparency” to the division.

CBER is responsible for overseeing vaccines, blood products, and advanced therapies like gene editing.

Prasad joins the agency from the University of California, San Francisco. He has also worked with the National Cancer Institute and NIH.

His appointment signals a shift in FDA leadership and tone — possibly toward greater skepticism of industry influence.
